Government 2.0 Camp Rocky Mountains is the first Government 2.0 camp for the Rocky Mountian Region.  This camp will bring together government leaders, policy makers, scholars, students, contractors, and government employees to discuss and work collaboratively on improving government through technology.  This event is open to anyone interested in improving government.  Our focus will be the use of technologies, like Web 2.0 and social media tools, to create a more collaborative, transparent, and effective government.

Government 2.0 Camp is the uncoference about using social media tools and Web 2.0 technologies.  The camp will bring together the leading thinkers from government, academia, and industry to share Government 2.0 initiatives that are already in process and collaborate about how to leverage social media tools and Web 2.0 technologies to create a more collaborative, efficient, and effective U.S. government on all levels (local, state, and federal).

In 2009, the first Government 2.0 Camp was held in Washington D.C. to bring together leading thinkers from government, academia, and industry to share Government 2.0 initiatives that were in progress and to collaborate on ideas about leveraging social media tools and Web 2.0 technologies to create a more collaborative, transparent, and effective government- Government 2.0.  That event was a success and laid the ground work for other Government 2.0 Camps throughout the United States.

The inaugural Government 2.0 Camp was organized by the Government 2.0 Club, a national organization that creates opportunities for government, academia, and industry to share ideas and solutions for leveraging social media tools and Web 2.0 technologies to create a more collaborative, efficient, and effective government.  This camp is not organized by that group, but formation of a Rocky Mountian chapter may become an action item of our camp.
